Dinner around the world man and woman eating dinner

Dinner Around the World

I got the inspiration for this dinner around the world date from the movie It’s a Wonderful Life. Jimmy Stewart’s character had a dream to see the world. He and his new wife were going to do just that for their honeymoon, but then circumstances arose so they couldn’t go. So his wife decorated their home with posters from far away places.

How can you have dinner around the world in one night? Well, it’s actually quite simple, but it takes planning and listening to the person that you care about. That is one key to success, or so I’ve been told; a good listener is way ahead of the game when it comes to love.

So for this romantic creative date idea, find out all the places that your date would like to visit, such as Europe, the Caribbean, Australia, etc. Then go out and get posters of locations from each of those places. Yes, this is definitely one of the more expensive dates. Wherever you want to have your dinner, put up the posters all around the room, so it has the feel of a world traveler.

Then make or have dinner there, and don’t forget the details. If you are planning a homemade meal, and the person has always wanted to go to France, you could make this amazing, Beef Bourguignon. Check out my food blog for more ideas of foods you can make and desserts you can make to impress your significant other and that would fit your theme for the evening.

If they like warm places, turn up the heat. If they like a colder location, such as snowboarding and mountains, change the temperature in the room to fit the mood, as well as the lighting. Add some awesome mood music to go with the locations you pick. If they have always wanted to go to Italy you could play some classic Italian music, etc.

You need a lot of posters and whatever food you want to have. Prepare a lunch or dinner that would fit one of the places. For example, if they really wanted to go to China, you would have posters of China, and you would prepare Chinese Food. Be creative with it, try and make the room seem like you are actually in one of those places, and you could even dress the part, too, if she wants to go to Hawaii, have Hawaiian posters and wear flowered shirts and leis. The possibilities are endless. If you are feeling up to it, play some music, and then dance the night away after dinner.

My commentary with this date:

This date is a cool and creative idea, something different, better, special, a night to remember. These are the kinds of memories we’ll carry with us for a long time, and even never forget. I was invited to a girl’s birthday party several months ago, which had a French theme. She loved Paris, so the house was decorated correspondingly and food was prepared to fit that location. This particular occasion was not a date, but there was a great group of guys and girls there, flirting with each other, having a good time, and tasting that great French cuisine. Good times for sure!
