The Fantasy Date of a Lifetime

The bulk of the Fantasy Date of a Lifetime idea comes from the movies with a little mixture of my own creativity as well. This date idea is definitely for couples or spouses, and you will see why in a moment.

First, you need to have access to a lake where you can use a rowboat or maybe a blow-up dingy. Ideally, there is a floating platform out in the water, or maybe you could use a pier, which might be easier to locate. Even if you wind up using the pier, still use the boat to get to it instead of just walking. What you do is you pick up your date, tell her that you are going to a nice restaurant, and then take her to the lake. A blindfold on the way adds another level of suspense, but that’s up to you.

At the Lake

After you arrive at the lake, you get into the boat and row your way out to the floating platform or the end of the wooden pier. Set up for you is a candlelight dinner if you have awesome friends I am sure they can do this part for you. Bring a Bluetooth speaker and have music playing to paint the perfect mood. After you are finished eating, ask her to dance. I recommend playing her or his favorite love song.

Fireworks shooting off over water.

This next part is kinda tricky on how it will work: you need to have some kind of signal for your friend or group of friends who are hiding on the shore. Once they see it, they’ll launch off some bottle rockets (if legal where you are). If the fireworks are not legal, maybe they could just light sparklers and throw them up in the air. It would be awesome if the fireworks were timed to go off for when you go in and kiss your date, maybe while you’re dancing.

Boom! Doesn’t this sound like a movie? It’ll take work and planning, but it will be incredibly romantic. This would work well as a proposal date idea—you’d put all other fiancés to shame. Mark my words, if you recorded this proposal, it would go viral. And you don’t have to follow these guidelines exactly; modify it as you choose to make it your own. Your date, spouse, or girlfriend will absolutely adore you for it, especially when they see all of the hard work and effort that was put into it.

What you need for this fantasy date of a lifetime idea:

There are a lot of things that you need for this date to work. You need a lake, a rowboat, a platform or pier, a table and chairs to set up for the dinner, and bottle rockets. Don’t forget candles for the table and something to light them with. You may not be able to get bottle rockets, but imagine the spectacle if you did. Get sparklers instead. A blindfold is needed if you are planning to use one.

You need the food that you will be eating. Buy the food and have your friend bring it or make the food, bonus points if the food is homemade. Need some ideas on what to make? Visit my other website In the Kitchen with Matt. Don’t forget the Bluetooth speaker for the mood music; the small ones that you can connect to your phone or iPod will work perfectly.

It’s nice to have good friends

You will need to have your friend or group of friends hiding nearby where they can see well enough to launch off the bottle rockets at the right time. A video camera of some kind, DSLR, or someone’s phone would be essential if you want to record the night as a keepsake. Since it will be in the evening a camera that records in low light situations is essential, DSLRs are great for that. Phones nowadays are getting pretty awesome in low light situations as well. Another idea would be to have one of your friends act as the waiter or waitress and serve you dinner.

Unlike the movies, where you can do multiple takes of a scene to get it right, you only get one chance at this date to do it right. But it’s worth it. How do I know? Because I know everything, okay, in all seriousness, I’ve told a few girls about this date and they totally loved the idea; in fact, they almost melted right there.

My commentary on this romantic date idea:

I just dreamed of this date up one day, thinking about movies and romantic scenes in them. Maybe I have seen too many romantic comedies in my day? Nah, that is silly. Then I started thinking about lakes and fireworks, put them all together with my candlelight dinner and dancing idea, and presto, the romantic date of the century.

I will probably do this with the girl that I plan on marrying. I am not sure if I would use this date idea as my proposal date, but possibly. If the person you are in love with is fascinated with movies and sappy chick flicks and can’t get enough romance in their life, do something like this fantasy date of a lifetime idea. It will take their breath away and leave you being the king/queen of romance.
