An opera is one of those really cultured events you only ever see people in movies going to. They seem to be more expensive than symphonies and plays but usually come with much more entertainment, extravagant costumes, and grandeur. The atmosphere and spectacle are different than a play and symphony and can lend itself to quite the experience. A really popular one to go to is La Traviata. If Operas aren’t your thing go to a musical instead, Wicked, or Phantom of the Opera would be great choices. So if you are looking to impress your date with something different, go to an opera or musical.

What you need for this date:
Just like the play or symphony, you probably want to get the tickets in advance. The really popular ones like Wicked and Phantom are likely to sell out, so it is always a good idea to be safe. The tickets are all you need for this date. If you search online, you will be able to find a musical or opera playing near you.
My experience with going to an opera or musical:
My roommate’s girlfriend set me up with her friend many years ago while I was in college. I had actually met the girl before at a party, so it wasn’t going to be a blind date. I was already attracted to her and wanted to go out with her. Because, I knew she liked the opera when I found one that was playing at my college, I told her about it. She was excited and couldn’t wait for the experience. It helps to pay attention to people you are interested in, finding out what their likes are and creating dates around those. A great way to earn some bonus points.

I picked her up and took her to the opera house. She wasn’t flirty at all, but the conversation was flowing naturally so I thought that I still had a chance with her. The opera was fantastic. It was the first time I had ever gone to one.
Later, we went to a restaurant for dinner; an all you can eat Brazilian place. All you can eat meat places are one of my favorite places to go to. Can you picture me as a caveman? That’s what I feel like when I’m there. My date had said she liked meat and had never been to that restaurant, so I knew I had to turn her into a caveman like me. Well, cavewoman, I guess.
My friend the Opera singer
Recently a friend of mine, who is a professional opera singer, was in town. She spoke to a large group of us single adults and sang a few songs for us. It was like our own mini-opera. If you have never attended one, you should make time to go to an opera or musical. The experience is well worth it and a great way to mix up your dating life.
