If you are looking for an inexpensive and romantic date idea grab your significant other and take her on a pedal boat ride.
Some lakes with parks around them have pedal boats that you can rent and ride around on. Rental prices are usually reasonable, and the boats provide a nice relaxing ride on the lake.
This is a perfect time to enjoy the weather and have a meaningful conversation with your date. You could get a group and have pedal boat races, or just compete between the two of you.
This would work fine for a first date so it doesn’t necessarily have to be a romantic date. If you want, bring some sandwiches and eat them as you pedal around the lake. Not only will you get to spend some valuable time with someone special, but you will also get a bit of a workout it in. A win-win situation, if you ask me.

What you need for this pedal boat ride date idea:
You just need to drive to a place that has pedal boat rentals. Make sure that you research beforehand the times and prices. They are pretty easy to find just do a search online and you will probably find something close to you.
Those same places sometimes will offer other kinds of boats that you can rent like kayaks and paddleboards. You could do those too if you wanted in lieu of the pedal boat.
My experience with this date idea:

I grew up next to a few parks with big man-made lakes that offered pedal boat rides. Being young, I wasn’t in the dating mindset, more like the “fun” mindset, and so never took advantage of the boat rentals.
But after seeing a movie with a couple riding on a pedal boat ride, I realized that it would make a really fun date. Once I moved to Arizona, I found out that Tempe Town Lake has pedal boat rides. I took a girl out on one and we rode around the lake in style. It was pretty awesome.
It was a nice spring day here in Arizona. The temperature was in the low 80s and the lake wasn’t busy at all. She liked it, but alas, she only wanted to be friends.
So if you are looking for something fun and different to do outside for a date go on a pedal boat ride.
